Late Party
Long-form Solo Improv Show
This half-hour, one-man improv show was developed out of the Solo & Duo Improv course in the
JaCKPIe Theatre Workshop, with Jim Karwisch, and a solo improv workshop I took with Jill Bernard.
The format I developed for show starts with me getting a suggestion from the audience of "a keepsake or memento."
I use that as the basis for 1-to-3 minute improvised monologue. The monologue is the source for subsequent scenes between 2 to 4 characters and there will be 4 to 6 different characters in a given performance. I usually incorporate 10-20 seconds of unaccompanied song during scene changes as a transition element to set the next mood.
I performed the show at various places, including Relapse Theatre, The Village Theatre, and at the 2009 Black Box Improv Tournament, where my performance got me to the semifinals.
