Applied Improvisation - Workshop
There was a great workshop on April 27 presented by the S.E. Regional conference of the Applied Improvisation Network, basically on how to use improvisation for training, facilitation, strategic planning, brainstorming, and learning. I got some great ideas (4 pages of notes) on how to facilitate better, communicate better, generate more ideas, and re-energize groups. Brent Darnell and Robert Lowe led the day-long workshop for trainers, facilitators, project managers, and actors. Well worth the registration, now I'm considering getting certified by A.I.N.
Mr. Snuggles - Short Film
Sweet: the Long Island International Film Expo accepted the Mr. Snuggles short film written and directed by Byron Conrad Erwin. Another feastival, another shot at an award. Fingers crossed.
Morningside Monster - Feature Film
I had an overnight shoot this month The Morningside Monster by Blue Dusk Productions. It's about six pages, outdoors; I wrapped the night at 4 am during the height of Lyrid meteor showers. About 50 minutes of a rough-cut of the film is now edited. Only five pages left and my character will be wrapped on this movie.
Mr. Snuggles - Feature Film
The Mr. Snuggles feature film script by Justin Craig had a really good table read at the Atlanta Screenwriters Group on the 18th. This was be quite a vocal workout as I was reading for both the ventriloquist and his alter ego for the entire script. When we did the table read at Blank Page Screenwriters Group, in contrast, we split it up to only 30 pages at a sitting. Anyway, I really liked the feedback from the ASG: solid ideas for tweaking some script elements to enhance the story.
Simon Maxwell Interrogator - Feature Film
I am thrilled to get tagged for an intense role in Simon Maxwell Interrogator, written and produced by Cecil E. Davis Jr., starring Starlin Britt. We started production on April 12th with a 7-page a crime scene that appears in the movie as a flash back. Just me and Nicole Axelrod, who plays my piano lessons student. What's left for my character now is another 12 pages that includes a chase scene and a long interrogation / torture scene. Exciting stuff.
Color Psychology
My color choices for this web site match my cars: of the 4 cars I've owned, 2 were dark blue and 2 were green. I also like black as a serious, dramatic look which, I guess, matches tire color. Interestingly, I recently read some neat research that found these colors are actually most frequently preferred colors among men. Here I thought I was expressing my individually but it turns out it's probably just a guy thing.
MOST | preferred | colors | LEAST | preferred | colors
Guys | Blue | Green | Black | Brown | Orange | Purple
Gals | Blue | Purple | Green | Orange | Brown | Gray |
I've added this to my Site Design page.
Ben Taylor Workshop
In the last 6 months I signed up for two different acting classes but, sadly, both got canceled. Third time is a charm however: this month I wrap up a six-week acting class led by Ben Taylor at Actors Express. Now in Atlanta, Ben brings an awesome appreciation for world-class acting, experience as writer, director, and actor to a workshop he taught for years in Austin.
Fun improvising a bit as a "quiet lion" in the Ben Taylor Workshop,

The Cure at Get Connected
On April 25th an extended preview of The Cure, by Justin Poage, was shown at Get Connected. I was tickeled to see that my one day last year as a para-military extra showed up with some facetime on the big screen. Click the pick below to see a 0:45 teaser. Alas I don't have appear in it, other than a glimpse of the back of my head as I get knifed! The full feature will be released later this year.
Upyri - Web series
The Upyri series is now listed on IMDb, my 19th acting title. Episode 3 will be filming at the end of June, directed by Byron Conrad Erwin, and I'll be doing a little bit of narration for that.
