Screenings and Distribution

Mr. Lockjaw - VIP Screening

The poster for Mr Lockjaw is on the IMDb page this month, with my mug embarrassingly large. I'm also getting apprehensive now that a screening date was announced. On May 7th it'll be playing at a cinema in Roswell for cast, crew, family, and friends. The event is free. Contact me for location-time details; share in my anxiety.

Post production

Bad Blood The Movie

Somehow we didn't get enough coverage of me on my butt in a stakeout car so we're doing pickups in April for Bad Blood: I play a detective tracking a missing person in this sci-fi, horror, creature-feature. I was assuming we'd pickup the 1½ pages for my character that got omitted during principal photography. Instead, I got 6 new pages to replace other coverage for better pacing. Over 100 lines and 3 (4?) more days on location.

Pre production

The Interns - Part 1

Preproduction in full swing on The Interns with an IMDb title page on the 12th and Facebook page on the 13th. A pleasant surprise was that getting over 600 likes in 5 days. When we start shooting this summer, I'll be playing a hard-ass alcoholic detective against some rookies.

Events

Drama Tech Alumni Reunion

Got to see a lot of college friends at a Drama Tech reunion this month. While in in grad school at Georgia Tech, I was in a play there almost every quarter for the many  years it took me to complete my master degrees. Kudos to the current production team at the theatre for setting up this promotion; they packed the house for their production of Stephen Sondheim's musical Sweeney Todd. Kudos also to Melissa Rust who gives a Broadway-worthy performance of Mrs. Lovett. Tickets available at DramaTech.org/reservations

Atlanta Screenwriters Group

Screenplay coverage at the ASG Meeting Thursday April 16th, 7:30pm, 25 Park Pl NE, Atlanta 30303. I really enjoyed reading Mitchell McLean's "Unseamly," a short about puppet prostitutes.

Web Development

Elevator.js

I happened to look at pinboard on a day when elevator.js was a popular bookmark. It is a back-to-top widget that plays elevator music during a slow scroll-to-top and then a "ding" sound at the top. It made me laugh so I added it to the bottom of the home page and on my About Site page, plus made a few tweaks:

  • Music substitution. The Girl from Ipanema is quintesential elevator music ever since the Blues Brothers
  • I grabbed clips for half a dozen versions from YouTube and added a bit of code to select one at random
  • Replaced the button graphic with an old-school dot-matrix "ground floor" image
