Screenings and Distribution
Mr Snuggles - Premiere
We had our first screening of Mr. Snuggles this month. Directed and edited by Byron Conrad Erwin, and just in time for Halloween, this psychological thriller has me playing a schizo whose sadistic alter ego has a love of stand-up comedy, knives, and even a bit of song. We had a full house and it was great to hear all the compliments after the screening. A relief. lots of smiles going around after.
The screening was at Get Connected, my favorite monthly film and entertainment industry mixer, Halloween edition (event details). at Puritan Mills, 916 Joeseph E Lowry Blvd, Atlanta, GA
MARTA - Industrial Commercial
I'm thrilled that a character bit of mine was selected by MARTA for their 'Mind Your Manners' anti-nuisance campaign. I play a comedic panhandler in the 60-second spot. Finally, being an annoyance actually paid off! The PSA-styled commercial was the product of a improv-based marketing workshop run by Brent Brooks at Blank Stage. Click below to watch.
Pre Production
Morningside Monster - Feature
A new project I just started working on this month is the horror-thriller Morningside Monster. I play a character who has a very gory demise; the effect required casting a mold of my chest, forearm, and hand this month. Filming will be 2 or 3 days in December. With Cynthia Michel and Tracy Dailey.
Human Supply - Short
The people at The GANG Productions have a short pilot in the works and I'll have a couple scenes playing the nefarious doctor-turned-zombie. It's probably be a one-day shoot and I get to nosh on BRAAAAAINS. Yes, more special effects! If the pilot goes over well, it'll be re-occuring character in a web series.
Zombie Ghost - Short
Tis the season for horror and even more zombies: the first table read for a short film Zombie Ghost is this month. This is a comedy, in the spirit of Shawn of the Dead, and I play something of a curmudgeon, a cross between Martin Landau (in the movie Ed Wood) and Burgess Meredith (in Rocky). November-December filming. Should be a lot fun.
Travel
Great Basin National Park
I froze my butt camping a couple nights in Great Basin National Park but it was worth it. Night skies were clear with great visibility of the Milky Way and I had three days hiking above 10,000 ft to alpine lakes, a mini-glacier, and a forest with millenia-old bristlecone pines. Under Wheeler Peak, there are the Lehman Caves to tour. In all, a stunningly beautiful park and the 38th of the U.S. National Parks that I've visited to date.
Red Rock Canyon
Since I was in Las Vegas (drove from there to Great Basion), I took in a visit to Read Rock Canyon, which is about an hour from The Strip. Beautiful.
