Screenings and Distribution
Mr. Lockjaw - Pilot
The first film festival for Mr. Lockjaw and we're opening! There will be a Q&A with writer Justin Craig, director Byron Conrad Erwin, and myself after the screening. Gwinnett Center International Film Festival, 8PM Friday July 31st and another screening Sunday August 2nd at 6 PM. Check out the full schedule and get tickets. You can hear a selection of clips from composer Dustin Painter's dark industrial soundtrack on SoundCloud.
Lady Justice - short
A day in the life of a female super hero struggling against a glass ceiling, with an appearance of yours truly as Doctor Telepathy in Lady Justice. It's an Avengers-inspired comedy sketch screening as part of the Summer Shorts! Short Shorts Soirée 2015, Sunday July 19th, 6 PM and 8 PM.
Production
Rebel Boy - short
First time working with a group of folks from the UNC School of the Arts and SCAD for a 1950s coming-of-age story, Rebel Boy.
I have a couple pages in it as an anxious principal. Serious story with my character playing a bit of comic relief.
Bonus: I get to be on screen again with the delightful Deborah Childs (Mr Lockjaw).
A bit curious that this is my second time playing a principal, and both this year. The other time I was fretting over a student was earlier this year in a scene by Blackflight Studios. Pehaps I'm growing into a new typecast.
Post production
Bad Blood The Movie
"Just for fun," here's some eye-popping movie magic showing how to deal with a clerk who's a jerk. The snippet of Bad Blood post-production is a scene with me & Vikas Adam and the score by Christopher Brooker. A 90sec trailer has been created that looks quite sharp but I don't know when it will be made public. Director Tim Reis presented some pieces of the project at a works-in-progress panel at Frontieres 2015 which garned the first press by Twitch Film.

American Violence - Feature
I got an IMDb Actor credit this month for American Violence. I had a few lines of Russian in this, as muscle in a mafia, but the movie also features a whole through-line in Spanish, winning it the 2013 Georgia Latino Film Festival "Film of the Year". This is a shorter cut, with different music, for commercial distribution.
Events
Aligned Stars Agency - New Representation
Happy to have new representation as of this month with Patrick Ryan at Aligned Stars Agency. I learned about ASA thanks to a lead from Tyler Buckingham (The Interns): it's a relatively new talent agency in Atlanta and I really like Ryan's sensible approach. I celebrated by buying a new camera for taping auditions. Hopefully, many, many auditions. News headshots this month by Jason Vail.
Eat, Drink, and B-indie
Screening writing is the topic this month's ATLFF event, with a table read and Q&A with Michael Lucker. Tue, July 21 at 7:30 at Manuel's Tavern.
Atlanta Screenwriters Group
A fun table read July 2nd at the Atlanta Screenwriters Group coverage of Jack the Stripper by Byron Conrad Erwin. "A rural strip club is the setting for a night of murder, mystery, and misogyny." I tried my best to read for a character with a lisp. Reminiscent of Scary Movie, it's a serial-killer parody with only one filming location and lots of scantily clad girls - so probably a good bet commercially. Solid turnout (16+ people reading) including Tomi Lavinder (Mr Lockjaw) reading the lead Jacqueline. Other talented reads by Ben Bryant (Atheist Dinner Party), Rich Lanford (The Bachelorette Project), and Martin Kelley (Blackhats).
Y’allywood Short Shorts Film Festival
At The Hangar for an afternoon of shorts (3 minutes or less), comedy, music, biking, and hot dogs. Entries are eligible for acceptance in the 2nd Annual Y'allywood Film Festival this fall. Summer Shorts! Short Shorts Soirée 2015, Sunday July 19th, staring at 3 PM. Screening of Lady Justice short, in the 6 PM and 8 PM blocks. My favorites: Crowhand, which also screened at ATLFF, and the sardonic French noir I Eat This 3 Week Old Hot Dog.
