Screenings and Distribution

Blackhats - Feature

The trailer for the action suspence thriller blackhats came out on the 25th. In the movie I play a bomb-carrying suicidal programmer and, even though you don't see any of that performance in the trailer, it still looks pretty good.

Pulse of the Indigo - Feature

Pulse of the Indigo had its Atlanta premiere screening on the 14th at Cinevision. It's a wonderfully dark story of two crime families at war -- Russian and latino. Crooked police plague the city, childhood friends become lovers, and a serial killer is after them all. Filmed in Atlanta and LA last year (in Russian, Spanish, and English), I had a few scenes in it playing muscle in the Russian mafia; I was very happy to find out my pronunciation was goood enough for a couple of my Russian lines to make it to the final cut.

Production

Morningside Monster - Feature

The Morningside Monster feature film has a 9-day shooting schedule this month, including at least one day with me. Alas, I play a victim of the monster and my character only makes it to page 50 in the script, but I'm looking forward to a gory demise. There's nothing like two pounds of sloppy silicone eviscera on your chest to make you appreciate the blessings of life -- or a post-shoot hot shower to wash off the sticky stage blood.

Human Supply - Series

The folks at The GANG Productions are working on a series, Human Supply, in which I have a few scenes playing a nefarious doctor-turned-zombie. I've a couple days of filming this month for the pilot. I was tickled that props I brought wound up in the final set decoration, like the big flask in the hero-image below. Hopefully the series gets picked up because the doctor is a re-occuring character -- and I love to eat special effects body parts.

The Bachelorette Project - Short

On the light side, I'm working with Byron Erwin and Kenny Mac this month on their comedy, The Bachelorette Project, which is billed as "Bridesmaids meets Wedding Crashers." I'll have the chance to add some improvised silliness in a few scenes. We even pressed my jacuzzi into service for one scene. It looks like it could be a really fun movie.

IsmProv - Live Comedy

This month's IsmProv show on the 19th got to play with Recidivism. We started with a prison break and I had a blast playing with George, Evan, Benjamin, Mike, and Jessica. My favorite scene was playing "Despair" in the character of Smeagle. In it, I considered devouring not Bilbo, but poor Tiny Tim. Now THAT's a holiday show.

Events

Get Connected Mixer

December 12th is the Get Connected event for Atlanta entertainment folks. I'll be on a "Script2Screen" table read for Stephen Sherwood's short film "Quantum Soul." The story is part metaphysical: specifically, on the existential issue of getting into a Star Trek-style transporter. If there was a technology that could disintegrate you and then magically re-integrate the atomic floatsom, would you risk your soul? Also on the schedule are some scenes from Robert's Kelly's dark screenplay "Pimp".

Bacon

Under the category of stupid fun: Google added Bacon numbers to their search engine this month (NPR story here). I checked out the Oracle of Bacon and discovered that, with a few 2012 releases, I now have multiple "2-degrees of separation" with Kevin Bacon movies.
