Post Production

Upyri - Web series

The next episode of the Upyri web series is almost finished. I was in the studio for a few hours this month doing some pickup shots and a page of voice-over narration. Tickled too to see they used my mug for the profile photo for the project's Facebook page. Hoping to see a cut next month.

Pre Production

Simon Maxwell Interrogator - Feature

Received confirmation this month from Screen Actors Guild that Simon Maxwell was approved as a SAG-New Media project! Now I just need to fill out the production artifacts -- another line of business, another methodology.

Events

Dragon*Con

After 30+ years in Atlanta I went to DragonCon for the first time this month. A little scary because I'm not a cos-player, but I love Sci Fi and the con had a track on film making. Saw some great costumes (some stretched over way  too much fan skin!), and saw several people I haven't seen in years...and to see Nicholas Brendon (Criminal Minds, Buffy the Vampire Slayer); he and I are in the movie Morningside Monster which is now in post-production.

Blank Page Scriptwriters Workshop

Writers, join us to listen and share insights on the stories; Actors, bring the stories to life. On Tuesday 8/06 episodes of "I, Nosferatu," a vampire webisode series by Kevin L. Powers will get a reading, followed by "Dopps," a sci-fi short/webisode pilot by Stephen P. Sherwood. The last four episodes Nosferatur will be read on 8/20. $5 donation requested to cover the venue.

Inspiration

Runaway - Sci Fi Short

Clever sci-fi short film and selection of ArtFX. No sets: the opening master shot is simply a solitary character at a desert/deserted gas station. It reminds me of someplace far outside Las Vegas, perhaps Area 51, which is a couple hours drive. Terse dialog and some superimposed hi-tech tells a tight little story of a Runaway. I added it to my list of favorite short Science Fiction inspirations.
