Screenings and Distribution
Attack of the Morningside Monster
After a great 9-month run of festivals screenings, Attack of the Morningside Monster is released VOD through many channels on Oct 14th. Expecting a DVD release in January.
It is an official selection of the 10-To-See at the Hot Springs Horror Film Festival where it screens on the 26th.
A couple reviews are up this month: at Red Carpet Crash and Bucket of Corn. The later also has a review of Demon’s Rook, produced by the folks behind the Bad Blood movie I am working on now.
American Hell - Horror Short
Three festival screenings this month for American Hell: Oct 4th in the Canton Film Festival, Ohio, 3:30pm, and on Oct 17th in Eerie Horror Film Festival in the Warner Theatre. And it WON the Audience Choice award at the Idaho Horror Film Festival in Boise.
If I Am Your Mirror - Dramatic Short
On Oct 11th, If IAm Your Mirror is playing at the Horrible Imaginings Film Fest in San Diego.
Horror Hotel - Season 1
The Horror Hotel screens in Miami and Atlanta this month. It's the 2nd year in a row at the Atl Web Fest. October 24-26 at Georgia Tech and, this year, a WINNER for the 2014 Production Grant Award. So cool. In Miami, the series was nominated for Best make-up. It also appeared in a top ten list of Extraordinary Web Series.
Production
Four films working this month; 18 shoots in 16 days!
Bad Blood The Movie
A 16-day shoot of principal photography is this month for Tim Reis' horror creature-feature Bad Blood, with me playing a private investigator on a dozen days. Day 1 highlight was getting hit with a gory "blood canon" money shot. Day 2 called for an ambitious 14 pages of the script and a daunting 200 lines from my character. Yikes.
Mr. Lockjaw - Pilot
Scheduled to knock out about 4 pages for Mr Lockjaw, including scenes with Debra Childers (who did an episode of Horror Hotel last month), Tomi Lavinder (Morningside Monster), Alpha Trivette (Big Loser), and Keith Brooks (Public Enemy #1). Four shoot dates for me. I only have some pickups left and principal photography wraps on Nov 2nd.
Small world: the cop car for Bad Blood is the same one used in Mr. Lockjaw.
Willard - Short
On Oct 4th we shoot a big bar room scene (and some pickups) for Dylan Chandler's satire. A room full of the most unlikely killers, including yours truly as the vagrant migrant Willard. Just one more murder scene to go and the 25-page story is wrapped.
Restricted Diet - Comedy Short
One-day shoot for Mitchell McLean's 8-page comedy Restricted Diet with me getting to play a racist vampire in a long scene with the lovely Pamela Ricardo. Oct 19th.
Events
Eat, Drink, & Be Indie
3rd Tuesday of every month at Manuel's Tavern. For International Animation Day (October 28th) this month's panel includes quests from from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Floyd County Productions, ASIFA-Atlanta and our various schools that contribute to the Atlanta animation scene. Neat to catch up with panelist Joanna Davidovitch with whom I shared an improv stage years ago.
Blank Page Screenwriters Workshop
Really got a kick out of reading the first third of Byron Conrad Erwin's "Filthe" feature script on the 14th. Over-the-top and off-color to the black, but without any actual profanity. Not an easy trick. Marketability definitely a challenge; maybe HBO?
Get Connected
Drats, the Guillotine episode of Horror Hotel will be in the Get Connected screening room on the 30th; I was hoping it would be the Coma Girl episode we filmed in June. Still worth it for 2+ hours of local shorts and costumes.
