Film Projects

Production & Distribution, 12-month round-up

2014

The projects below were either actively filming or had releases, screenings, or premieres in the 12 months ending July 2014.

For the year I added 5 new IMDb credits That's on par with last year’s projects and I'm now up to 25 IMDb Actor credits. Another half dozen are in the pipeline.

Horror Hotel - Web Series

In September, the first season of the Horror Hotel anthology by Ricky Hess was completed and began screening at festivals. Below is a teaser for the Invader episode I was in. I love the retro look and sound inspired by the old Hitchcock and The Twilight Zone stories of the 50s and 60s. After some festival wins, the season is now streaming on Hulu and U-verse.

Mr. Lockjaw - Series Pilot

In October 2013 we had a table read of Mr Lockjaw at the Atlanta Screenwriters Group with me reading for both leads: a mild manner ventriloquist and his psychotic alter ego. A pre-production schedule began in February and by June the casting was essentially complete. I'm looking forward to to working again with Mark Ashworth (American Hell) , Mike Stanley (Morningside Monster), Justin Craig (Atheist Dinner Party) and Byron Conrad Erwin (Mr Snuggles).

Pulse of the Indigo - Feature Film

In September, Pulse Indigo was re-scored for more favorable licensing. A couple more festival screenings included the Georgia Latino Film Festival in October. The gritty crime drama bounces between English, Russian, and Spanish while I got to play mafia muscle with a couple lines in Russian. It's set to get some VOD distribution in late 2014.

Simon Maxwell: Interrogator - Feature Film

in November 2013 we wrapped my character on Simon Maxwell, completing a brutal 7-page warehouse scene with Clay Kraski playing the interrogator to my tortured victim. That plus some earlier footage of my character committing a murder could be cut into a stand-alone short.

Morningside Monster - Feature Drama

The Morningside Monster premiered at Atlanta's Plaza Theatre in January and has now screened at over dozen film festivals around the country. I still get a kick out of sharing credits on this with Nicholas Brendan (Criminal Minds, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Robert Pralgo (Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf). VOD October 2014; DVD January 2015.

Atheist Dinner Party

In January a light-hearted, albeit black, satire in this short film -- also a very fun one-day shoot -- for Atheist Dinner Party. Written by Justin Craig (who also wrote the Mr. Snuggles feature screenplay and Mr Lockjaw pilot) and directed by Byron Conrad Erwin (who wrote and directed the Mr. Snuggles short). Both great guys to work with who have a very dark sense of humor. First time working with Ben Bryant and Devin Miller, although I shared workshops and classes with them before. Oh, and I got to work again with Brent Brooks (director of No Experience Necessary). Screening in August 2014 at the Gwinnette Intl Film Fest.

Upyri - Fantasy pilot

In March there was a full day of just me for the Upyri web series. In it I make an emotional appeal as the narrator "Currnnunos", but the monologue doesn't actually give away the story. A bit of stigmata makeup, however, suggests a connection between day-dwelling vampires and the blood of Christ. The 'redemption' episode is scheduled to be out of post in September.

Preserving Christmas - Short Film

In April Preserving Christmas got a teaser (below) for a premiere in July. The short was actually filmed way back in March 2013. Once again I played the antagonist in a dark story: in this case, a murderous mortician who teaches someone a horrific lesson on Christmas, with some scenes filmed at a funeral home.

Public Enemy #1 - comedy short

First time I get to work with director Anthony McHie. In April he shot a ten-minute comedy that rips on police dramas and race tropes and asked me to play an under-five role of an absurdly bigoted police sketch artist. Small world: the cast includes Keith Brooks & Dorian Santiago. Keith will be playing Balto in Mr Lockjaw later this year; Dorian Santiago worked on the Upyri project last year.

Coma Girl - Web Series Short Film

I had a six days on the set of Horror Hotel for a Season Two episode, Coma Girl, which is a creepy love story: a nursing home night watchman (played by yours truly) falls in love with a comatose woman. With the small cast and fight choreography, I enjoyed this episode even more than the Invader episode I did last year.

Big Losers - Feature Comedy

Way back in 2010 I had a one-day shoot on a SAG movie, working title Ivy League, playing a two-person scene with the movie's lead, Rob Gleeson. I have been waiting almost 4 years to see how that scene turned out; finally a DVD is available on Amazon. Below is a teaser.

48-Hour Film Project - A Matter of Time

In June I teamed up with Morningside Monster alumni Jayson Palmer, Mike Stanley, and Chris Ethridge again to crank out a short film in 48 hours. Matter Of Time had me cast as an evil doctor in a lab coat -- and the second time in a year where my character climbs into a bed to drug a teenager. It screened in July at the Landmark Cinema.

American Hell - Short Film

In June, a got picked to be in American Hell, a SAG short by shot on Super 16mm film! The only other time I was in a literal film project was for a surreal short call Modern Appetite. Below is some before and after stills of me and the killer (Josh Mikel), make up by Renonda Anderson. A strong turnout of J Pervis Talent on this shoot: Ty Lane Miller, Josh Mikel, John Kap, Mark Ashworth and myself in make up by Renonda Anderson. I went in just lending my screaming body for background but was upgraded to featured. Woo hoo!

Hope - SciFi Short

A three-day shoot in July had me playing on space station for Hope, a short story about a martyred scientist and an asteroid extinction event. Sweet, tight story.
